O filme é sobre a história de Adaline Bowman (Lively) de vinte e nove anos que nasceu no século XX, que sofre um acidente, e sobrevive, mas traz com ela, uma maldição, a eternidade.
Após este lamentável acidente, ela decidiu se isolar das pessoas e fica escondida há oito décadas, evitando assim que seu segredo seja descoberto. Um dia conhece um jovem rapaz e se apaixona por ele, e decide que é a hora de lutar e acabar com sua maldição.
